Kwangde Ri Climbing

  • Kwangde Ri Climbing Nepal Outdoor Himalayan Treks 1

Kwangde Ri (6011m), towering above the Bhote Koshi and lying to the south-west of Namche Bazaar is an arduous mountain to climb in spite of its altitude. Successful Kwangde ascents are small in number due to the difficulties associated with its summitry. Standing near the entrance of Everest region, Kwangde Ri has spectacular, multiple summits.

The labors in Kwangde climb are rewarded partly by the magnificent panorama of Sherpa villages and Himalayan peaks to be had from the summit, and partly by the unique trek in the rarely trekked Lumding valley. Just at the rear of sometimes crowded Everest region, Lumding  is an unexplored, untrodden  Himalayan valley with its pristine charm awaiting you to uncover. As Kwangde climb is a serious mountaineering adventure, you can also use hone your skills and fitness for larger mountaineering expedition.

First climbed in 1975 A. D., Kwangde Ri has been conquered from the southern and the northern face as well. The northern face is more difficult than the southern one, requiring the use of advanced mountaineering techniques. Conventional methods can be used in its glacier-worn southern slope.
